"The Atlanta College of Pharmacy was founded in 1891, under the leadership of George Frederick Payne, as the first college of pharmacy in Georgia. It grew out of the pharmacy department of the Atlanta Medical College. Throughout its thirty-six years of operation, the basic curriculum of the school was a two-session program leading the Ph.G. degree." Source: http://findingaids.library.emory.edu/documents/HS-S020/
